Pictures from 2018

As always life at Newhope only goes on with the help of our very precious donors, please think about donating if you wish to help our children have a decent life out of the poverty and danger of Poipet streets. God will bless you.

Enjoy the pictures.

Christmas cards!

Many, many thanks to the very kind sponsors who sent Christmas cards this year, it really does mean alot to our children.

And if you know of anyone who you think may wish to sponsor a child and transform their life, please share this blog and ask them if they would.
Thankyou for your kindness and generosity, may God bless you for it, here and in heaven.

Harvest home!

Well it's been quite a battle but finally the harvest is in and all hands can relax a little...

Nothing is wasted, even the old rice plants will be collected up and sold for cattle food...

The fresh and tasty cambodian diet, rice, fresh veg and fish is the healthiest and tastiest thing you'll ever eat... good work girls!

Christmas was celebrated with great joy and excitement...

Thank God and all the kind and generous donors and sponsors that keep Newhope running.
May God bless you1

Quiet faith between the rock and the hard place

As the rain and the snow
    come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
    without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Once again the rain came too late for the planted rice to grow but
now the rain is here the great river rises and inundates the land. Please pray with us
that this new planting of rice will succeed and  the work of the home flourishes
whatever the weather.

Back and blessed at lovely newhope, jan 2016

Once again, we (Sally and Mark) had a wonderful, blessed time at Newhope with Titus, Maria and the children of the green houses. once again SUCH a blessed time.

Above is Sally handing out some little greeting cards from our church in Warwick, telling them God loves them (I think they already know!) Its lovely seeing the familiar faces three years on since our last visit obviously thriving here.

Newhope now has a new superb rice mill thanks to the Jersey charity which funded this, I tried to help turn over the recalitrant diesel engine(those with bad backs really shouldn't try this!) and after alot of flying of giant gears and great rubberized drive bands saw the resulting milled and polished beautifully white rice safely stored.

This mill is SUCH an asset to the orphanage but please pray that this year in April the right amount of rain falls and the rice grows well as the last two years have been abnormally dry and harvest has been poor.

Whatever the challenge though Titus works on in faith and good-humour to make Newhope a place that cares for the children and be a light in a dark place. I think he can do this because he has REALLY got hold of the fact that...

Please pray for the project and its development.
Please donate to help care for more children.
God bless you.

Urgent prayer request

We've just had a message from Titus requesting prayer for his health (he is currently in Poipet hospital with heart problems). Titus says he needs to go to Siem Reap hospital where they have the treatments he needs but he cannot afford the $700 USD that they will charge him.

Please pray for Titus that he makes a speedy recovery and that God will heal him and grant him strength to deal with the great stresses of responsibility for running the children's home and that the God of abundant provision will meet his medical costs.

And bless you for caring.

Please email us at:

poipetnewhopechildrenshome@gmail.com

if you would like to help in any way.

Something's afoot...

Anyone arriving at Newhope recently couldn't fail to notice that there's something's afoot, strange Gaudiesque towers, workers everywhere, undertaking perilous construction.

It is in fact, work on the new rice mill. Thanks to Global care successfully getting us a grant) the rice mill we hope will be a game-changer, giving us not only the ability to mill our own
rice harvest (without losing 50% of it as a milling fee) but also be able to mill our neighbour's rice and have an income from that too. All extra funds thatof course will go to being able to care for more children.

Anyway, work goes on apace, and everything is handmade, even the metal ties that go into reinforcing the concrete pillars. And did you ever see such good humoured workmen?!
